Visiting the “Embracing Peace” statue at Memorial Park in Omaha
Today, I had the privilege of rolling through the scenic lanes of Memorial Park, a lush 65-acre haven at 60th and Underwood Avenue in the charming Dundee neighborhood of Omaha, Nebraska. This park, a tribute to the valiant men and women from Douglas County who’ve served in our armed forces, holds stories of bravery and freedom.
In celebration of its 75th anniversary, the park is now home to an incredible 26-foot sculpture by Seward Johnson titled “Embracing Peace.” This towering artwork captures the spirit of the iconic Times Square kiss photograph, symbolizing the joy and relief at the end of World War II. As I basked in its shadow, I couldn’t help but feel a deep connection to the past and a sense of unity that transcends time.
Driving through the park, I was reminded of our journeys and the paths to explore. It’s a beautiful reminder of the peace we cherish today, thanks to those who served. So, if you’re in the area, come by and share this moment with me. Let’s take a minute to reflect, embrace peace, and remember the heroes who’ve made our journeys possible.
